Equal Means Equal Film Screening & Discussion (Popcorn, too!)
March 19 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Come join the Connecticut chapter of the National Organization for Women for a FREE screening and discussion of the award-winning documentary EQUAL MEANS EQUAL at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, at the Waterbury Public Library. The film offers an unflinching look at how women are treated in the United States today. Examining both real-life stories and precedent-setting legal cases, director Kamala Lopez uncovers how outdated and discriminatory attitudes inform and influence seemingly disparate issues, from workplace harassment to domestic violence, rape and sexual assault to the foster care system, and the healthcare conglomerate to the judicial system. Along the way, she reveals the inadequacy of present laws that claim to protect women, ultimately presenting a compelling and persuasive argument for the urgency of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment – an action at the very top of national and CT NOW’s priorities lists. Please join us for the film and a post-film discussion. We’ll have free popcorn and snacks, too!
