Celebrating 39 Years
Middletown, CT, For Immediate Release – The Middletown Public Schools K-12 Art Show annually highlights student artwork from all 11 city schools. Held at Wesleyan University’s Zilkha Gallery at The Center for the Arts, the show typically draws about 2,000 spectators during it’s ten day run. The event is free and open to the public. At the reception refreshments are served and Middletown High School Strings students provide music. Come meet our visual arts teachers, Fine Arts Department Head, Julie Shvetz, Chief of School Operations and Communications, Marco Gaylord and Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael Conner.
The school district’s Art Department has been organizing the exhibit for 39 years, offering the chance for students, from kindergartners working in various mediums to advanced placement art students working in sculpture and oil paints to showcase their works of art. The show also provides evidence to the wider community that art education matters.
This event is in partnership with the Middletown Board of Education, Middletown Cultural Council, Wesleyan Center for the Arts, Community Foundation of Middlesex County, Elizabeth Swaim Arts Enrichment Fund and C.A.U.S.E.
