Show the CT Siting Council that CT doesn’t need another polluting power plant
February 15 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Not Another Power Plant(NAPP) is hoping to get a large group to turn out to the Connecticut Siting Council Meeting on Thursday, Feb 15 at 1:00 in New Britain.
The Council will be hearing a motion from NTE Energy to re-visit their 2017 decision not to grant a permit for a polluting methane power plant call NTE Energy Center. Although the public will not be allowed to comment, getting bodies in chairs will send a strong message that the people of CT are watching this issue very closely.
On Thursday May 11th, 2017 the Connecticut Siting Council (CSC) unanimously voted to deny the application submitted by NTE for a ‘fracked gas / diesel’ power plant. The CSC Draft Opinion clearly shows that NTE failed to establish a need for the facility and it also states that the CSC could not find public benefit from the proposed facility. Since no need or benefit was established, the CSC did not need to evaluate the negative impacts this facility would have on public health and safety or the environment to reach a decision.
